Our Jazz & Blues Showcase completes its spring season of shows on Sunday, June 8th.
World renowned, award winning jazz trumpeter JOE MAGNARELLI leads a quintet of international all stars. The N.Y. based leader is joined by N.Y. pianist JAMES AUSTIN, JR., Paris based drummer BERND REITER & Philadelphia bassist LEE SMITH. His featured special guest is
JOHN SWANA, the superb Philadelphia trumpeter,
valve trombonist & EVI specialist.
For more than four decades, Syracuse native JOE MAGNARELLI continues to delight worldwide jazz audiences with his playing. His distinguished resume includes substantial recorded work as a leader & sideman, and performances with a host of jazz elites. Among them are Rosemary Clooney, Lionnel Hampton, Buddy Rich, Ray Barretto, John Pizzarelli & Harry Connick, Jr. His trumpet artistry has also earned him honors from the Thelonious Monk International Trumpet Competition & from Downbeat Magazine, with the latter also naming him "one of the top five, over 30 post bebop trumpet players today."
